According to the weather forecasts made by Sias (Sicilian agro-meteorological information service), the next one weekend in the Island you will see a net return of precipitation throughout the regional territory. A sudden change of the climatic conditions which in the space of just twenty-four hours will determine the transition from heat waves on Friday to the stormy episodes that will break out between Saturday and Sunday.
For the first day of the weekend the regional civil protection has also issued a‘orange alertlocated especially in the Palermo area, for the risk of fires and heat waves. A hot day is therefore expected, but it is not destined to last long.
A rainfall deficit which could therefore be attenuated thanks to rains expected these days and which add to the light rainfall that has occurred on May 8th and 9th last. According to what was detected by the Sias network, in those days the intensity of the events was on average very low, allowing the soil to absorb most of the rain that fell with the absence of erosive phenomena, a very positive result with regards to the protection of the soil and its fertility.
L’single thunderstorm episode similar to a storm occurred ad Augusta (SR), where the intensity reached 30mm per hour. However, in the rest of the regional territory the rains, although fairly widespread, were non-homogeneous. In particular, the vast area between the provinces of Enna, Caltanissetta and Catania stands out where accumulations were less than 20 mm, with a minimum recorded on the Sias network of three mm in the Enna station in the Pasquasia district.
Next weekend, however, i winds they will blow mainly from southern quadrants and they will allow the temperatures to maintain themselves high, with peaks that will even exceed 30°C. As for the seasboth the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Strait of Sicily will be calm, while the Ionian Sea will be little moved.
