One lane of the lakefront in Como is closed: the Lario rises

On the morning of Friday 17 May, the equipment and warning signs necessary to close the first lane of the Trieste lakefront, the one close to the pavement, were positioned: the lane was delimited by barriers and cones, following initial flooding of the road. On both sides of Piazza Cavour, however, the necessary walkways have been positioned to guarantee the passage of pedestrian crossings. Without prejudice to the cordoned off lane, the lakeside remains accessible to traffic.

The level of Lake Como during the night between Thursday 16 and Friday 17 May rose at a continuous but controlled rate: around 11.20 on Friday morning it stood at 105.5 centimeters above hydrometric zero, with an inflow of 614 cubic meters per second and outflow at 480, according to data reported by the Civil Protection.

The weather of the day, however, is decidedly better than that of Thursday: there is no precipitation in the Como area and little precipitation in Valtellina. According to the Civil Protection Plan, above 100 centimeters we enter the pre-alarm phase: the operational actions implemented are in fact part of those envisaged for risk mitigation.

Monitoring continues of the data provided by the Adda Consortium and the rainfall data of Arpa Lombardia and the visual data carried out by the Civil Protection volunteers present in Piazza Cavour.
