L’AQUILA – Screening for the prevention of tumors and free checks in the square of the municipality of residence of the user: it is the heart of the ‘Mobile Health House’ project, promoted and financed by the Region, which will start on May 20th in the territory of the ASL 1 Abruzzo and which will last until October 5th.
Through mobile clinics, the health company will bring screening and diagnostic services to all citizens, free of charge and without the need for a medical referral or booking, in squares and pre-established public places in 70 municipalities in the province of L’Aquila.
The initiative falls within the programmatic lines of the ASL management, led by the Manager Ferdinand Romano, which considers prevention among the absolute priorities, with the consequent need to bring it to the places where the user resides, in particular in the internal areas usually farthest from the health provision centers. With mobile units and cutting-edge equipment, which will stop in the Municipalities from time to time, citizens will be given a kit for detecting occult blood (for colon-rectal screening) and offered the opportunity to undergo a Pap test, free of charge and HPV tests as well as doing mammograms with the latest generation machines. In addition to these services, focused on prevention, the population will be able to benefit from spirometry tests, checks for suspicious moles and electrocardiograms. Citizens will be welcomed in mobile units equipped with clinics, waiting rooms, toilets and access for people with disabilities.
The traveling clinics will operate from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. The ‘mobile health home’ project, already implemented in the other Abruzzo local health authorities, in the province of L’Aquila will begin on 20 May from Marsica (8 stages), to then be extended to the L’Aquila area and the Peligno-Sangrina area.
