CIVITAVECCHIA – On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps, the municipal administration of Civitavecchia awarded honorary citizenship to the local Guardia di Finanza Group, demonstrating the deep bond with the institutions and the local community.
The ceremony, held in the “Renato Pucci” council chamber of the building where the Municipality is located, was attended by the Lazio Regional Commander, Division General Virgilio Pomponi and the Provincial Commander of Rome, Brigadier General Gavino Putzu, as well as numerous civil authorities and local military.
After the screening of a video created for the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Guardia di Finanza, the deliberative act of conferment was read.
The Mayor – Lawyer Ernesto Tedesco – expressed during his speech words of appreciation for the activity continuously carried out in the area by the Fiamme Gialle and handed over a symbolic parchment to Colonel Fabrizio Stella, Commander of the Group receiving the recognition.
General Pomponi thanked the Mayor and the municipal administration for the prestigious recognition, which cements the bond with the citizens and testifies to the trust placed in the Guardia di Finanza which, today as yesterday, uses resources and energy to serve the country and protect the economic-financial security.
In July 2020 the same award was awarded by the Civitavecchia Municipal Administration to the local Naval Corps Station to celebrate 70 years since its establishment in the port city.
