Fridays in Siena OFF. Meeting with the journalist Toni Capuzzo in dialogue with Orlando Pacchiani – toscanalibri
The Fridays of Siena, event OFF exceptionally on Saturday. On May 18th at 6.30 pm in the Sala delle Lupe, Palazzo Pubblico, the journalist Toni Capuozzo – war correspondent for various newspapers – will discuss with Orlando Pacchiani from La Nazione on current affairs starting from the wars that are shaking the world today: from “new” conflicts such as the one between Russia and Ukraine to the more historic ones, but more relevant than ever, such as the one in the Middle East. We will also talk about terrorism, peacekeeping missions and new war technologies. Initiative of the Municipality of Siena curated by toscanalibri.it, artistic direction by Francesco Ricci.

As is now customary, at the end of the event there was an aperitif with a toast by Fisar Siena (technical sponsor).

Born in Palmanova, in the province of Udine, Toni Capuozzo has been a professional journalist since 1983. He has written for the newspaper Reporter and for the periodicals Panorama Mese and Epoca. He covered the mafia for Giovanni Minoli’s Mixer program and held the role of correspondent for the program L’inquisitoria. He then collaborated with some newspapers of the Mediaset publishing group (TG4, TG5, Studio Aperto), for which he covered in particular the Yugoslav wars, the conflicts in Somalia, in the Middle East and the Soviet-Afghan war. Deputy director of TG5 until 2013, from 2000 to 2017 he edited and hosted Terra!, an in-depth journalistic program broadcast first on Canale 5 and then on Rete 4. He also held the Mezzi Toni column on TGcom24. In 2021 he created the reportage “The dream of a thing” for Mediaset, dedicated to the hundred years of the birth of the PCI. In 2022, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the siege of Sarajevo, he created the special “Sarajevo 1992-2022, return to hell” for Mediaset. His latest publications are “War Without End” (Signs Publishing, 2023) and “Nobody sings in the street anymore” (Edizioni Biblioteca dell’Immagine, 2023). A new work dedicated to children is coming out.
