They would have set up a criminal organization in the Catanzaro area dedicated to the trafficking of marijuana, cocaine and heroin. Eight people were reached by a precautionary measure order issued by the investigating judge of Catanzaro at the request of the DDA of the capital and carried out by the carabinieri of the Girifalco Company with the support of the territorial commands of Lamezia Terme, Soveria Mannelli, Catanzaro and Soverato and the collaboration of the Carabinieri Cacciatori “Calabria” and of the Vibo Valentia Dog Unit.
Two people ended up in prison, one under house arrest, while three were ordered to stay at night and the remaining two were ordered to stay in the municipality of residence. The measures were issued on the basis of the believed existence of serious indications of association aimed at drug trafficking.
The group, based on the circumstantial elements acquired, was operating in the territories of Girifalco and surrounding areas, in particular Amaroni and Borgia.
The investigations were started in 2022 following the arrest of a person found in possession of over 600 grams of marijuana and developed through technical and traditional activities.
During the investigations, various quantities of drugs destined for the drug dealing squares in the Girifalco hinterland, professional machinery for vacuum packaging, high-precision scales and scanners for detecting bugs were seized.
