There were 150 applications for job interviews for 49 open positions that the students, graduates of theUniversity of Pisa were able to carry out with the representatives of eleven companies in the paper sector during “Paper Day”, the day organized by the University Career Service in the Sapienza Palace and born from the collaboration with Confindustria Toscana Nord, the association of industrialists from Lucca, Pistoia and Prato.

More people participated in the initiative 90 young people who in the morning were able to attend the presentations of the companies moderated by Marco Frosolini, president of the master’s degree course in Technology and production of paper and cardboard.

Young talents meet companies

The industries that have joined the initiative (Cartiere Carrara, Essity, Fosber, Gambini, Lucart, Sofidel, Toscotec, Valmet, Wepa Italia, Celli and Andritz) they were able to talk about themselves, their production and their employment needs and, in the afternoon, at the company stands, they were able to dialogue and carry out cognitive interviews with students, male and female graduates.

Putting our young talents in direct contact with the productive excellence of the area in a strategic sector such as the paper industry means providing them with precious tools to consciously build their professional future”.

The course in Technology and production of paper and cardboard

“The experience of the master’s degree course in “Paper and cardboard technology and production”, taught in English by professional professors and managers in the sector, teaches us how important it is to build synergies between the university and the corporate world added Professor Marco Frosolini – those who obtain a degree already have direct contact with the world of work and orientation days like today’s serve to further strengthen collaboration with that sector. For our young people it is a sector that offers great opportunities.”

“Our thanks go to the University of Pisa for having opened a window to the world of paper for young people – he concludes Tiziano Pierettivice-president of Confindustria Toscana Nord and president of the Paper and Papermaking Section – we tried to respond to their curiosities by introducing ourselves, as companies in the district, to illustrate aspects of our production that are never sufficiently known, also in terms of the new professional skills necessary for the sector, many of which are oriented towards sustainability and innovation.”
