Costa Nord Trani, the first demolitions in the former Angelini on Thursday 23 May

After the preparatory phase, on Thursday 23 May at 10 am the first significant demolition interventions will begin within the area of ​​the former Angelini distillery as part of the Costa Nord project financed with PNRR funds for a total of 18 million euros.

The redevelopment works on the western coast of the city involve the vast urban space enclosed between the sea, the historic city and the degraded industrial area (a total surface area of ​​37,000 square metres). In the intervention area there are many abandoned warehouses and industrial plants, which have been in a state of complete abandonment for decades.

The program accepted for funding aims to enhance the western seafront through the creation of an equipped urban park, new parking areas, the creation of co-housing and social housing. The planned housing units will be 54 of which 42 (from 45 to 60 square metres) located in 3 buildings and 12 (of 45 square metres) through the building recovery of the former slaughterhouse area.

On Thursday 23 May, under the blows of the vehicles of Cetola SPA (which was awarded the contract), the first buildings of the industrial plant which has been abandoned for over twenty years and which was burdened (with a sentence by the court of Trani) will fall obligation to decommission starting from 1993. The industrial plant covers an area of ​​18,500 square meters and has a consistency of approximately 60,000 cubic meters of masonry products. The demolition will affect all existing buildings except for the assessment by the Superintendence regarding the maintenance of some buildings of possible historical interest.
