Faenza does not forget: lots of participation in the Mud Ceremony one year after the flood

In May 2023 it was the water that ran through the streets of the city and destroyed everything. A year later, those same streets have been traveled by people, a symbol of a community that does not forget – because the flood cannot be forgotten – but rises again and looks to the future, united.

The “Mud Ceremony” was held last night, an event built and organized by the Menoventi theater company, in collaboration with many city entities, which saw seven processions starting from symbolic places of the flood, such as the Osservanza cemetery, the Artistation Music School, the Torricelli Ballardini high school and many others, to converge in Piazza del Popolo and “transform the held emotions into song. Get together and feel close again to renew the solidarity that has kept the city standing.”

A collective ritual, mediated by the theater and built with the citizens who decided to participate in the preparation workshops, in recent months, which exploded in the most central place of the city, where the performance took place.

Despite the bad weather that raged for much of the afternoon, participation was massive.
