a wave of music sweeps over the region

The 2024 edition of the Turin Jazz Festival Piedmontthe extension of the Tjf which until October 5th will tinge with jazz – in the broadest and most open sense of the term – 16 municipalities in the region, distributed across all its eight provinces.
In its sixth year of existence, Tjf Piemonte confirms itself as an unusual creature: not a real festival, but a sort of widespread showcase of the expressive and performative richness of jazz in Piedmont, conceived in the form of a network of its live realities.

Not only is the project born from the institutional synergy between Fondazione per la Cultura Torino, Torino Jazz Festival, Piemonte dal Vivo and Consorzio Piemonte Jazz, but it is developed in the area in collaboration and within many of the main festivals and clubs in the region, from those longer-lived (Due Laghi in Avigliana, Open Papyrus in Ivrea, the Jazz Club in Biella) to those who are younger and open to stylistic and linguistic experimentation (Nu Arts & Community of Novara, Piedicavallo Festival).

The program – which over the years has grown from 14 concerts in 2019 to 26 in 2024 – is consequently very kaleidoscopic: it goes from the mix of voice and electronics proposed by RebelBit in the Turin debut next Friday at the tribute to the great trombonist from Asti Dino Piana, who passed away last November and was remembered on 12 July in Asti; from Paolo Jannacci in jazz duo with trumpeter Daniele Moretto the same day at the Forte di Exilles to the American singer Denise King who chose the Soms Theater in Racconigi (new entry in the Tjf Piemonte «network») as the initial stop on 26 July of his European tour; by the electric guitar trio formed by Stefano Pilia, Adrian Utley of Portishead and Alessandra Novaga on August 18th in Piedicavallo to that of Diego Borotti, Alberto Marsico and Luca Guarino (with special guest the vocalist Karima) who will perform a night of «jazz & sour beers» as part of Bolle di Malto on 1 September in Biella; from the return of the grand master of the trumpet Enrico Rava with the Fearless Five on 7 September at the Garda Museum in Ivrea, to the daring journeys of Gianluca Petrella and the Cosmic Renaissance on 21 September at the Spazio Hydro in Biella, to the closing on 5 October at the Soms Theater in Gozzano (Novara) with the songs of Luigi Tenco in a jazz key. Other concerts are planned in Alessandria, Almese, Baveno, Bruino, Fontanetto Po, Novara, Verrone and Visone.
