Extraordinary openings until midnight to make the historic center of Siena and the surrounding areas lively and attractive.
It is the experimental project “Siena Shop and Stroll, shopping Thursdays in Siena in the months of July and August 2024”, implemented thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Siena and trade associations, which the municipal council decided today, Thursday 16 May, approving a contribution of 65 thousand euros from the administration.
In implementation of the strategic plan “For good governance of tourism in Siena”, and meeting the needs of operators, workers in the tourism sector and, in general, of all commercial establishments that wish to take advantage of this possibility, the initiative aims to encourage attendance in Siena even at unusual times for tourism and for the Sienese citizens themselves. As part of these initiatives, not only musical animations will be planned in various parts of the city, thanks to the collaboration with Siena Jazz.
For the implementation of the project, a specific municipal ordinance will be prepared, which will allow any type of commercial establishment to remain open until midnight on Thursdays 4, 11, 18 and 25 July and 1, 8, 22 and 29 August. In the next few days the ordinance will be signed and published on the noticeboard of the Municipality of Siena.
