Sasa controllers will be equipped with bodycams

Bolzano. The controllers of the public transport company Sasa were equipped with bodycams. In the event of disputes in the workplace, records should help protect employees, especially in the event of assaults. The devices are also intended to prevent property damage and vandalism. “Studies show that this technology can be useful as support in emergency situations and that, in the best case scenario, it also contributes to de-escalation. The main objective is to support and protect our staff,” says Sasa president Astrid Kofler. According to Sasa SpA, passenger privacy will always be respected when using bodycams. The cameras are operated exclusively by authorized personnel and the recordings are managed in accordance with current data protection regulations. The data collected has security purposes and is treated confidentially. In the event of tension with a passenger, the latter is informed of the activation of the bodycam. Only certain authorized people can view the videos, adds Sasa general director Ruggero Rossi De Mio.
