In the presence of the mayor Federico Basile and the councilor with responsibility for Productive Activities Massimo Finocchiaro, the first founding anniversary of the Provincial Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of Messina, which also coincided with the second edition of Catering Day. The presentation of the initiative, shared and sponsored by the Municipality of Messina, was attended by representatives of the local sector and delegations of students from the relevant schools. Also present were the regional president of the Sicilian Chefs Association Rosario Seidita; the regional president of the Lady Chef sector Rosy Napoli; the regional president of the CNA Tindaro Germanelli; the president of the Provincial Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of Messina Paolo Romeo, together with the board of directors composed of Isabella Catalano, vice-president, Carlotta Andreacchio, treasurer, and the councilors Giuseppe Arena, Marialuisa Muscolino, Rosario Caminiti and Salvatore Denaro.

Mayor Basile, who was awarded a plaque as an honorary member of the Provincial Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of Messina, explained during his speech “the role and importance of catering in the social, cultural and economic fabric of our city . The municipal administration has always been at your side and hereby renews the compliments already expressed for the results achieved by chefs and pastry chefs at a national level, representing Messina and the local peculiarities, to accompany the development and planning action carried out by the Administration”.

“The territory is also relaunched through your work – declared councilor Finocchiaro – our administrative vision is to encourage the development and actions of our excellences to create a shared path, strengthening the Messina Brand, from the agri-food sector to the food and wine sector, for positive repercussions on the city’s economy and beyond the Strait. The Administration has started a process through the DECO brand and recently participated in Vinitaly with the Faro doc. Food, as an element of aggregation and attraction, is an important part of the tourism and culture sectors. I send you my best wishes for the first anniversary of your Association, which I have the pleasure of sharing with you and the Mayor”.

The meeting with the journalists was an opportunity to bring together the professionals of the sector present in Messina and the province, in order to enhance the profession of the chef and increase the social, economic and professional prestige of the category, tracing a common line based on collaboration between the subjects operating in the sector also through training, updating and professional requalification activities of operators, also establishing a synergistic collaboration with hotel institutes.

The objective of the Association, in line with the objectives of Catering Day, is to celebrate the chain of excellence of all those public establishments on the theme of hospitality, fundamental for the entire world of catering, aiming to grow a synergy of intentions and objectives between the various partners. In this regard, the Provincial Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of Messina during its first year of associative life, signed some memoranda of understanding with sector associations and cultural associations, as well as with local institutions in the area aimed at representing added value to the activities that can be carried out in the interest and growth of local catering.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Association, together with the Lady Chef sector with the presence of the provincial manager of Palermo Anna Scuderi and the provincial manager Carlotta Andreacchio, delighted those present with a buffet of local products typical of the area, which smell of tradition and which carry within them the flavor of Messina’s territorial authenticity.
