Hoosock’s name added to first responder memorial

One month ago this week, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Hoosock and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen were ambushed and killed in the line of duty.

Deputy Lt. Michael Hoosock will be honored at 5:30 pm on South State Street in Syracuse. His name will be added to the Palladium monument in downtown Syracuse as part of a fallen deputies, firefighters and EMS workers memorial service.

District Attorney William Fitzpatrick honored both Hoosock and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen posthumously at a Wednesday ceremony. Their families were on hand.

This week, the FBI released a report saying that from 2021-23, more officers were killed, 194 in total, than in any other consecutive three-year period in the past 20 years.
