REGGIO CALABRIA Life imprisonment: this is the sentence request made by the public prosecutor, Sara Amerio, against Edoardo Mangiola, 42 years old, accused of having instigated the murder of Marco Puntorieri, 41 years old, victim of a white gun. Puntorieri, believed to be close to the Libri gang of the ‘Ndrangheta, was kidnapped in September 2011, killed with several gunshots to the head and his body made to disappear.
The motive for the murder of Puntorieri would be related to a revenge gained due to internal conflicts within the Libri gang itself. In fact, both Mangiola and the two perpetrators of the murder of the forty-one year old, Domenico Ventura and Natale Cuzzola, both 61 years old, already sentenced to life imprisonment, would belong to the same criminal group. The next trial hearing, set for July 4th, will be occupied by the speech of the lawyer Francesco Calabrese, Mangiola’s defender. The sentence could be issued during the same day. Mangiola has already been sentenced to 18 years in prison in the “Epicentro” trial focused on the activities of the Libri gang. (HANDLE)
