Around 400 students from twenty Perugia institutes were involved in the environmental teaching project Econews: the voice of ecology in the classroomwhich ended on Thursday 16 May with an award ceremony for young eco-reporters at the Pala Barton in the presence of the institutions and the host Mauro Casciari.
The awards ceremony The meeting on Thursday morning rewarded the children and their classes for their commitment to putting themselves in the shoes of ecoreporters by creating a video, an interview, a drawing or a short story to document the reality that surrounds them or a topic that concerned the world of environmental ecology. Econews it is in fact conceived as a news program with the aim of promoting the principles of conscious citizenship in children and young people by facilitating learning on the topic of waste recycling, making students more aware of the importance of a circular and eco-sustainable economy . These themes were addressed through the tools of journalism and information, in a new way suitable for all ages.
The project In total, 20 classes were awarded for having created the best project in various categories: best eco-recipe, best interview and research, best text, best animation video, best eco-reporters, etc. Raising awareness among the little ones on issues that are as important as they are vital represents an opportunity for everyone to learn to understand the world around us with the simplest and smallest daily gestures, as demonstrated by today’s event.
Gigi news and more An online meeting called “Gigi Tg” was designed for nursery schools, during which the mascot created specifically for the project told the children funny stories about recycling and separate waste collection. For the primary school classes and for the lower and upper secondary schools, the meeting took place with an environmental communicator who brought a real news program to the various classes. Furthermore, with the help of special correspondent Mauro Casciari, funny topics and gags were presented on some of the main topics covered, with a final space dedicated to the direct involvement of students who were able to intervene out of curiosity and questions on the topic.
