On Wednesday 15 May, at the San Francesco Auditorium, a meeting of extraordinary importance was held for the students of the 3rd, 4th and 5th classes of the Byron Linguistic High School and the 3rd and 4th classes of the Four-Year International High School. The event saw the participation of two prominent figures on the Italian and international scene: Pietro Grasso, President Emeritus of the Italian Senate and former Anti-Mafia Prosecutor, and Kerry Kennedy, Honorary President of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Italy and seventh daughter of the senator Robert Francis Kennedy.

The dialogue, entitled “The fight against the mafia from Robert F. Kennedy to the Ucciardone maxi trial – The schools of Lucca in dialogue with Kerry Kennedy and Pietro Grasso 32 years after the Capaci massacre”, offered the students the unique opportunity to ask questions and discuss with two authoritative speakers on the crucial topic of the fight against organized crime, starting from the legacy of Robert F. Kennedy up to current challenges.

During the meeting, Pietro Grasso shared his experience and his profound knowledge of the mafia phenomenon, while Kerry Kennedy offered valuable reflections on the role of justice and human rights in contemporary society.

The students showed great interest and active participation, asking stimulating questions and receiving enlightening answers from the speakers. The event represented a unique opportunity for cultural enrichment and in-depth analysis of the most relevant social and political issues of our time.

The Byron Linguistic High School and the Quadrennial International High School thank Pietro Grasso and Kerry Kennedy for their precious presence and all the students for their involvement and active participation.
