This morning, Thursday 16 May, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Marsala, coordinating the investigations carried out by the Carabinieri of the local Company, executed an order applying precautionary measures issued by the Court of Marsala-GIP Office, against four people (including a woman), investigated for various crimes, from drug dealing to the improper use of citizenship income cards, money laundering, fraudulent transfer of values and extortion.
The custodial measure in prison was applied against Angileri Alessia, Of 33 years old, and his partner Nice Andrea, aged 36 and another alleged drug dealer, Pantaleo Alessio Cristopher, 36 years olddomiciled in the neighborhood popular of Sappusialready subjected to the precautionary measure of custody in prison as part of the Virgilio operation.

As part of the operation, the preventive seizure of a well-known tobacco shop located in the other popular neighborhood of Amabilina, considered by the investigators to be genuine “ATM” of the pushers, as well as means and sums of money (equal to approximately 50,000 euros).
At the expense of tobacconist owner seized, LM aged 32, the precautionary measure of the obligation to report to the Judicial Police was ordered with a simultaneous interdiction of the ban on carrying out business activities.
The investigation activity began the day after the operationVirgil”, again carried out by the Carabinieri under the direction of the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office which, in February 2023, had dismantled the historic drug dealing square in the popular neighborhood of Sappusi, with the execution of an order applying precautionary measures against 14 suspects , 11 of whom were recipients of the measure in prison.
Thanks in fact to the discovery of accounting notes relating to drug dealing activities further investigations were undertaken which would have allowed the Carabinieri to reconstruct the method used by some suspects to obtain payment for the drugs sold (cocaine, crack and heroin): consumers, often in economic difficulty, would have purchased narcotic “on credit”, leaving theirs Citizenship Income Cards (with relevant PIN) in the hands of pusher who, thanks to the availability of the Amabilina tobacco shop, would have withdrawn the cash monthly (operation prohibited by law), leaving a sum equal to 10% of the amount withdrawn to the tobacconist’s owner, thus bypassing the regulations on the use of Citizenship Income cards and the provisions of the Consolidated Banking Act.
Angileri and Pantaleo are also under investigation for extortion since, again according to the preliminary investigation documents, they would have forced the regular assignees of a popular housing of the Sappusi district. The suspects immediately afterwards took possession of the accommodation (owned by the IACP), occupying it illegally.
Furthermore, the Carabinieri, with the help of the Guardia di Finanza of the local Company and again at the disposal of the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office, are carrying out further investigations at the seized tobacco shop, with the aim of examining tax aspects in greater detail and verifying all the withdrawal operations carried out with the Citizenship Income Cards unduly used by pushers.
As part of the aforementioned “Virgilio” operation of February 2023, from which today’s operation originatedthe Court of Marsala – GIP Office, after the prosecution by the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office e following the summary judgment, it has already sentenced Angileri Gisella (Alessia’s sister) and Allegra Vito Alessio, two of the accused, to 8 and 5 years of imprisonment respectivelyalso declaring against them the suspension from the exercise of parental authority.
For the other suspects in the Virgilio operation, the more serious crime of criminal association aimed at drug trafficking has been charged and the trial will begin shortly.
