Maestro Francesco Giannoni will perform a musical program designed specifically for the place where the instrument is kept today. The overview of organ authors between the 17th and early 19th centuries opens with the Dutchman Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, who introduces the recital with the famous melody called “Aria di Fiorenza” or “Ballo del Granduca”, a dance that Emilio de’ Cavalieri composed on the occasion of the marriage of Ferdinando I dei Medici with Christina of Lorraine. The concert continues with compositions by authors from the area between Florence, Pistoia and Prato, from Domenico Zipoli from Prato to the organist of the Pistoia school Cosimo Casini, from the Florentine Gasparo Sborgi to his most famous fellow citizen Luigi Cherubini.
