Rotary convivial, focus on coffee / Cesena / Home

At the convivial interclub Rotary Club Cesena and Forlì Tre Valli, at the Verdi Theater in Cesena, a few evenings ago we tried to answer the question “Is coffee good or bad?”. They discussed the topic Claudio Borghifull professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Bologna and director of the Cardiovascular Internal Medicine Operational Unit of the Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Polyclinic of Bologna, and Dino Vairafull professor of Internal Medicine at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences of the University of Bologna, Sant’Orsola Hospital.

He also brought his contribution to the convivial Daniele Versaripresident of Estrados Cafè Srl of Forlì.

“What has emerged very clearly – they report from Rotary – is that in the majority of cases coffee isn’t bad except if you suffer from certain pathologies such as gastritis or you are affected by Helicobacter pylori, a spiral-shaped bacterium that can colonize the gastric mucosa, the lining of the human stomach. The infection is often asymptomatic, but can sometimes cause gastritis and ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, the first part of the intestine.”

The Italian espresso coffeein many cases, if consumed in the right doses, explained Professor Borghi, is a excellent ally of our health. Professor Vaira instead highlighted the risks to our health of a indiscriminate use of coffee such as in the case of ulcers. Daniele Versari then explained that experience and technology, as well as the passion of those who carry out activities like his, are the basis of a good coffee.
