Horse-drawn carriages and carriages, an artists’ café and fake vintage posters catapulted Piazza Sant’Antonino in Piacenza into nineteenth-century atmospheres yesterday afternoon (15 May) for the last day of filming of “Nice singing”, the new TV series co-produced by Rai Fiction And Lucky Red which will bring the origins of opera to the small screen.
The series – directed by Carmine Elijahdirector of the successful drama “Mare Fuori” – will see the protagonist Victoria Puccini – known for a variety of roles, including that in Elisa di Rivombrosa – together with a cast of prominent actors in which appear, among others, Carmine Recano And Giacomo Giorgi – respectively the commander of the penitentiary police Massimo Esposito and Ciro Ricci of “Mare Fuori” with also the participation of Andrea Bosca and Antonio Gerardi.
The filming in Piacenza started already in the morning inside the Municipal Theater and then continued outside, in the late afternoon, where through some scenographic elements the production transformed Piazza Sant’Antonino into Piazza della Scala in Milan, adding street lamps and posting the posters of performances, such as “Anna Boleyn” and the “Barber of Seville”, which bore the name of the Scaliger theatre. Most likely the Piacenza theater was chosen for its external resemblance to that of Milan.
