“The neighborhood has changed, now let’s complete the work”

“We chose to be here today because this is one of the most representative places of our way of administering and the vision we have of the city”. Mayor Alan Fabbri speaks from the heart of Gad, an area symbol of security policies. “When we were chosen by the people of Ferrara, in 2019, we promised to free the neighborhood from the crime that was suffocating it and we kept our word – he continues –. We transformed entire areas that were effectively inaccessible, because they were dangerous, violent and controlled by the mafia in beautiful public areas where many children play. And this is a great victory for all citizens and a wonderful result for us. However, we are not satisfied: we are still working to transform the entire area, including the station. in a business card for tourists who arrive by train and who must feel welcomed and safe in our beautiful Ferrara. We will also change the face of this area – promises Fabbri –, because we believe that our city deserves this and even more to become. a model, not only of safety but also of tourist hospitality and well-organised sustainable mobility. This is our idea of what Ferrara should be in the future. We have paved the way and, if the citizens choose to trust us, we will continue it in the next five years.”

The outgoing mayor and candidate for the local elections on 8 and 9 June spoke during a meeting with citizens at the Fiorella bar, which overlooks the station square. “For the Grattacielo area – he adds – the path we have followed is now known and recognised, even at a national level. In five years, despite the pandemic, we have set up a real Ferrara security system, starting from the heart of the problem, in very close and fundamental collaboration with the police and we have freed entire areas from the control of the gangs organized by the Nigerian mafia. At the same time we have carried out enormous redevelopment work which has made the area beautiful, accessible, inclusive and suitable for families and sportsmen and finally. we made it safe, with the Safe Parks operation, which started right from Coletta park”. At the same time, concludes Fabbri, “we have started a process of participation with all the residents and committees in the area”.
