«May 18th important deadline»

CIVITAVECCHIA – «I have followed the project of the floating off shore wind farm off the coast of our city since its inception, because it demonstrates how it is possible, through the use of renewable sources, to combine alternative development and respect for the environment also in the field, delicate, of energy production”.

The centre-left mayoral candidate says so Marco Piendibene who continues: «To date the priority is the maintenance of employment levels, at risk due to the imminent closure of the coal power plant: we are still waiting for a due response from Enel, which can contribute to solving the problem, for example with a program for the dismantling of the current production groups, which would ensure work in the construction phase of the wind farm”.

According to Piendibene, although it represents «a response in the medium term, the park alone is not enough: the real objective is the creation, in our territory, of a “hub” for the production of components and for the assembly of the wind turbine blades necessary for the construction of the overall offshore wind program in Italy. The deadline for responding, through an expression of interest by the Port System Authority, to the public notice issued by Mase to identify the ports in which these infrastructures will be built expires on May 18th.. However, a change of pace is needed from the Government, from which we are still awaiting the Fer 2 Decree on incentives and the streamlining of the authorization processes, without which even the tender in question would not have the legs to proceed as it should. In any case – concludes Piendibene – Civitavecchia has all the requirements to host one of the planned hubs: I believe that for our territory it is an important step towards the realization of the supply chain project, a true driving force of a stable and lasting economy”.
