On Saturday 18 May, from 9am to 12.30pm and from 3pm to 6pm, Savona will be the stage for the initiative organized by the Savona Torretta Lions Club in collaboration with the Spotorno Noli Bergeggi Vezzi Portio Lions Club aimed at promoting health and prevention: “Prevention in Piazza”, in the central Piazza Sisto IV.
It is a day open to all citizens and dedicated to prevention and health: inside and at the stations set up for the occasion, volunteer specialist doctors, assisted by nursing staff, will carry out screening and tests to detect the indices of some diseases often occult such as glaucoma, maculopathy, amblyopia (i.e the lazy eye of preschool children), diabetes and arterial hypertension. Timely intervention in these pathologies plays a fundamental role for individual and collective health.
Not only prevention but also correct information: during the day information material will be distributed on the most common pathologies and correct lifestyles. There will also be some gadgets for children and adults.
The initiative, promoted under the aegis of the Lions District 108 ia3, obtained the patronage of the Municipality of Savona and ASL 2, took shape in this broad and articulated guise for the first time in 2023 and was then replicated on other occasions and in other locations by the various Clubs of District 108ia3, registering great appreciation on each occasion from the population.
The Savona Torretta Lions Club has dedicated great effort to the success of this event because it believes in the importance of prevention and information in preserving the health of the community.
