“Good restoration of zootechnic funds for breeders”

2′ reading
15/05/2024 – Support for the livestock sector to have increasingly higher quality meat and make the most of the native breeds raised in the Marche. An objective for which Coldiretti Marche had asked the Marche Region to restore the contribution for the purchase of purebred breeders registered in the appropriate Herd Book.

In recent days, a technical roundtable was held during which the Region responded to the request of the agricultural organisation. 100 thousand euros on the table with the funds that will also be paid to agricultural companies that had previously requested them but which had not been admitted due to the expiry of the economic limit. The support concerns the purchase of purebred males coming from genetic centers recognized by the Marche Region or from companies linked to the Registry and provides aid of up to 40% (50% in disadvantaged areas) for Marchigiana breed cattle but also purebred rams Fabrianese and Sopravvisana and Suino della Marca. In our region there are approximately 10,600 cattle, pig and sheep and goat farms (-50% compared to 2018) with almost 42 thousand animals (-14% compared to 5 years ago).

“Livestock farming is the sector that has had the most significant increase in expenses in recent years between the energy crisis and international tensions – underlines Coldiretti Marche – and this is why we have given our maximum support also by supporting the birth of the Marche Umbria Breeders Association which reinstated zootechnical technical assistance. In recent years we have also pushed and obtained other interventions such as the covid contributions for the sector, the 1.35 million euros for the Marche slaughterhouses, the confirmation of PSR measures to support the sector and the 100% contribution to build fences and prevent wolf attacks and increase compensation in case of predation”.
