Feast of the Four Altarsthe return of the beloved traditional festival of Torre del Greco is approaching: the municipality appoints experts to select the works that will be reproduced on the altars and artistic carpets.
Four Altars, a commission to choose the sketches
It was one of the cornerstones of Mayor Luigi Mennella’s program: the return of Feast of the Four Altarsan ancient tradition of the city of Torre del Greco, will return to animate the city streets after 14 years of absence, from 19 to 21 July 2024.
A return which, for organizational reasons, falls on dates different from the traditional one Corpus Christibut which will be preceded by numerous events and promises to attract many people to the streets for the latter, but above all to admire carpets and altars, the undisputed protagonists of the event.
After the municipality’s “call” to city artists to present the sketches to reproduce11 artistic proposals have been received at Palazzo Baronale: it has therefore become necessary to appoint a specific commission which will have to decide which of these works will have to be reproduced on the 4 altars and on the 4 carpets accompanying artwork.
Here are the names of the experts
There will be five experts who, in various capacities, will be responsible for the works exhibited for the return of the “uttava”: to chair the evaluation commission Dr. Gennaro Russomanager of the culture, events, tourism and territorial marketing office.
Four commissioners: the Dr. Fabio Altiero, administrative instructor of the municipality of Torre del Greco; The prof. Luigi Madonnaconsultant for the evaluation of figurative arts, relating to the artistic proposals for the 4 altars, the carpets in the city churches and the pictorial exhibitions of the Municipality of Torre del Greco; Gigi Di Lucaartistic director of the Festival; Don Salvatore Accardodean of the 13th Deanery of Torre del Greco.
The time available to the commission is short and the responsibility, given the great anticipation for this return of the party, is great. The same mayor Luigi Mennella, on the microphones of VesuvioLive.ithad specified how many rules have changed in the 14 years that separate us from the last edition of the festival (in particular, relating to safety) which will make the festival “different” of the “uttava” of this year.
