On May 13th, a meeting was held between the Corporate Management of Vestas Italia, the trade unions. of Fim Fiom Uilm and the RSU, following the fatal accident that occurred on May 11th in the Salemi (TP) wind farm, which involved a young worker from the IVPC company, which carries out activities under sub- contract for the multinational Vestas. The company stated that, to date, investigations by the inspection bodies are still underway to ascertain the dynamics of the incident.
Like Fiom, we have repeatedly asked for a detailed focus on the sub-contracting companies operating for Vestas throughout the national territory, and to open a concrete discussion on the ways in which these activities are contracted out and consequently to know the conditions of the workers involved, very often precarious or forced to work in difficult conditions, and sometimes even to the detriment of safety itself.
For these reasons, in the next few days the RLS Fiom will go to the Salemi Service Point.
Like Fiom, we have reiterated the importance of the active involvement of the RLS – regarding the procedures and operating methods of the work carried out also in the turbine, the management and logistical problems of the service points – through constant comparison, in order to improve the working conditions of all workers.
Furthermore, we believe that the discussion of the company supplement can no longer be postponed, in order to therefore be able to address the issue of union viability and how the RSURLS are put in a position to be able to carry out their activities in the best possible way in the collective interest and for the safeguarding everyone’s health and safety.
