15 MAY – “As the Abruzzo Region, we have proposed to the Ministry of Health the creation of a single national health agency, also applying to host it at the Zooprophylactic Institute of Teramo”. This was announced in a note by the president of the Abruzzo region, Marco Marsilio, who spoke about it on the sidelines of yesterday’s event in Rome for the presentation of the 3rd 2024 volume of the “One Health Journal” and the 3rd edition of the “One Health Award” entitled “The path of the National Health System towards single health” , promoted by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Abruzzo and Molise in Teramo.
“This institute, one of the first in Europe to invest in experimentation in this sector, it is building a new state-of-the-art headquarters equipped with advanced laboratories. A headquarters of excellence that will be able to largely carry out this function, should the Ministry decide to support this project”, says Marsilio.
“The concept of unique health – added Marsilio – it is a frontier that has been tested in Italy for some years, before other countries. As the Abruzzo Region, we have proven in the field the importance of a unified approach between animal, human and environmental health, thanks to the pioneering activity of the State Zooprophylactic Institute of Abruzzo and Molise. This institute – concluded the president – was also the promoter of a policy of cultural dissemination, through the publication of magazines and the organization of prizes dedicated to this topic.”
