FANO – We’re almost there. It has now started countdown for the arrival of Giro d’Italia in Fano scheduled for the day of Thursday 16 May. In the City of Fortune the enthusiasm is sky high for the arrival of the pink caravan, which brings with it a moment of great sport but also colour, fun, entertainment and the spotlight of the national and international press. The city reciprocates with as many entertainment events aimed at everyone, to be experienced starting from Thursday morning.
The Pincio will be the heart of the pink village and is transformed into ‘GiroLand’: a large space, in collaboration with the RCS Sport group, to welcome athletes, sponsors, journalists, to experience, visit, the hub of activities and the starting point for numerous excursions on foot or by bike, but also the theater of projects linked to the world of two wheels and the stage for bike shows and trial shows.
Not just color, but also and above all historyculture and traditions and many events that bring the entire city to welcome the twelfth stage, a great opportunity to show athletes and enthusiasts the historical, natural and landscape beauties of the area.
The party comes alive around 2pm with the symbols of the city’s culture: the masked procession of the Fano Carnival captained by Arab music and the historical group La Pandolface composed of armed men, musicians and flag-wavers. Lots of music and color thanks also to Pink Eventi with a show that wants to bring a message of peace and beauty.
Next, around at 3pmthe arrival of the Giro E is expected, i.e. cyclists with pedal-assisted racing bicycles, to make all two-wheel lovers experience the pink race and tackle the route reserved for champions.
The arrival of the athletesnear theformer Paolini barracks (Viale Gramsci) is expected around 4.30pm and will be preceded by the long pink caravan. The route of the last kilometer is completely cordoned off, access for citizens and visitors to stand in the front rows and watch the arrival of the race is free.
The Giro is experienced in all the passing neighborhoods, it will in fact be a celebration throughout the city thanks to the collaboration with the associations that they will greet the race with pink displays and many thematic events, spectacular choreographies to pay homage to the history of cycling.
Between the neighborhoods: Tre Ponti, in Belleocchi a giant Carnival Pinocchio dressed in the Pink Jersey will greet the race (organized by Paese dei Balocchi and Verde Vivo association), a Cuccurano big party at Ricci Park, entertainment and surprises including a section of the route highlighted in pink in via Patuccia. The neighborhood is also waiting for the Giro Poderino, the Borgo Marinaro, the Port and the entire seafront where there will be no shortage of surprises from local realities, among them Aurora gymnastics who will create a unique choreography in Viale Adriatico for the Rai cameras, which will provide full coverage of the stage in Fano with live broadcasts and in-depth analysis.
In recent days, one was also held in the Prefecture meeting of the Provincial Committee for Order and Security Public, presided over by the Prefect Emanuela Saveria Greco, to verify the initiatives to be taken in relation to the arrival in this Province of the 12th stage of the Giro d’Italia. At the meeting they were all the leaders of the Police Force were present (Quaestor, Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, of the Guardia di Finanza, of the Traffic Police), together with those of the Fire Brigade, ANAS, 118, Italian Red Cross, the representatives of the Municipalities involved (Mondolfo, San Costanzo and Fano) together with the Commanders of the respective local police forces, as well as naturally the RCS Sport Representative of the 107th Giro d’Italia and the Civil Protection Volunteer Manager of the Marche Region, the latter connected via videoconference.
The entry of the Giro d’Italia into the province, considering a faster average travel time of around 43 km per hour, is expected in Mondolfo for 4.19pm, arriving in Fano at 5.01pm. The organizational models of this event have long been successfully experimented and proven capable of guaranteeing sporting competitions of the highest level in conditions of maximum safety.

The measures of suspension and closure of the sections of road traveled by cyclists will be adopted by the Prefecture and will be effective starting from 2 hours and 30 minutes before the passage of the race until the passage of the vehicle “End of the cycling race” and will be appropriately advertised. As per municipal ordinances, schools of all levels closed in Fano and Mondolfo.
