The maid is “unfaithful” and from the assets of wealthy entrepreneur that the woman looks after disappear approximately 2 million euros.
The man’s relatives, an elderly man suffering from severe cognitive impairmentthey notice the strange movements in the current account, and the subsequent investigations lead the housekeeper, born in 1977, to trial, accused of circumvention of the incompetent.
The events allegedly occurred between 2013 and 2020 Trade, but the accused rejects the reconstruction of the Prosecutor’s Office. The defense’s thesis is that the entrepreneur, who was particularly close to the woman who looked after him every day, would have been aware of the money and gifts intended for that person.
However, the man died in 2021 at the age of 85, before being able to explain to the judge the type of relationship which linked him to the housekeeper, to whom a 500 thousand euro life insurance policy had been registered. The entrepreneur also allegedly donated a hunting lodge in Romania to the woman, and in the period that ended up at the center of the investigation, withdrawals were recorded from the man’s account for a total of 639 thousand euros.
«There were financial donations to Romanian people that I didn’t know, and from what I understand they didn’t hang out with my fatherbut they received bank transfers for around 180 thousand euros”, said one of the man’s sons at the hearing, who together with his brother and mother became a civil party in the trial.
Anomalies detected by the witness in the period in which he held the role of support administrator for the father, who “was not aware of the illness he had” according to the psychiatrist to whom the 85-year-old’s family had turned to understand whether it was necessary to continue with the support administration.
The doctor was heard in the courtroom and explained that the entrepreneur “confused the lira and the euro”, and was convinced that “a plate of scampi cost 17 thousand euros”, and that to fill up his Porsche it took 2 thousand euros. The support administration therefore had to continue, according to the opinion of the doctor, who did not go into the nature of the relationship between the entrepreneur and the housekeeper, but specified that subjects suffering from significant cognitive deficits often become attached to those who cares, to the point of considering these people indispensable. And like this they can become vulnerable.
The entrepreneur’s ex-wife was also in the courtroom and remembered two episodes which could prove invaluable for the reconstruction of the story: the day in which at home, among the personal effects of the housekeeper, the woman had found a list of transactions linked to her ex-spouse’s account; and the one in which the man himself had told her about the fact that the maid was constantly asking him for money. “I brought that maid to him – added the witness speaking of her ex-husband – And I made a mistake.”
