Also this year the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Brescia will join the national initiative «Open! Open studios”: Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June 2024 city and provincial architects will open their workplaces to the publicshowing the profession live to curious and interested people.
To accompany the event, the Order has thought of a series of activities that go beyond the studios opened by individual architects (available for consultation here). The opening event on Friday 31 May will be held in Martinengo delle Palle Palace (the headquarters of the Order in via San Martino della Battaglia): at 11 there will be the awards ceremony «Energica-mente» national architecture competition. The names were revealed yesterday: the first prize will go to the architect Cristiana Catinowho designed a shopping center that meets the criteria of green building particularly interesting (such as the reuse of the wood of the Vaia storm). Second place are the architects Ettore Pedrini and Lina De Maron, for their work on an Art Nouveau building. The third awarded project is a demolition-reconstruction in Potenza, interesting for a coat different from all those seen in Italy after the 110%. There will also be three reports for projects carried out in Bergamo, Bolzano and Milan (a house made of wood, rice straw and cork).
At 6pm there will be a screening of docu-film «We are not thirsty for scenography. The long history of Alvar Aalto’s church in Riola”, in the presence of directors Mara Corradi and Roberto Ronchi. Alvar Aalto was one of the masters of modern architecture, the first to include wood and more sustainable materials in projects. The church of Riola is the only one built by Aalto in Italy. Members of the Order of Architects who participate will obtain training credits.

Saturday 1 June from 10am to 7pm Piazzale Arnaldo will instead host an external hubwith an installation curated by the Order: a long table and a tower will welcome citizens, who will be able to ask questions and find answers, talking about all application sectors: construction, planning, construction sites, bureaucracy, and so on.
In the province there will be a event in Dario Boario Terme: the Order will set up a small stand and organize a guided tour of the spa to discover them from an architectural point of view.
Some previews: after the summer the Order will exhibit the results of the projects of the competition that last year it conceived for Bergamo Brescia Capital of Culture 2023. There were 54 works presented and the winning project was created in Taiwan: a section of a cycle/pedestrian path designed by a Franco-Spanish study.
Then there will be one autumn exhibition dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the Piazza Loggia massacre. « We wanted to do it in October so as not to contribute to the crowding of the already numerous initiatives. It will be on the work of Carlo Scarpa and on the stele and the monument to the fallen, to show how architecture and sculpture can remember events over time”, explains the president of the Order of Brescia Stefano Molgora.
