Hogs Reggio Emilia: the Regular Season of Youth Flag Football concluded

Last Sunday, in the home of the Reggio Emilia Hogs, the regular season of the under 13, under 15 and under 17 flag football categories ended. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both the spectators and the organisers, with an excellent influx of public throughout the day. The company declares itself extremely satisfied with the success of the event and the participation of the teams.

For the under 13 and under 15 teams the championship ends here. The Hogs declare themselves very happy with the progress made by the boys and the work done during the season. Special thanks go to Federico Scolari, and to the Football Academy Enea Codeluppi project, which he is carrying out in schools to promote flag football. The company will continue to support young athletes with projects and summer camps, aimed at keeping current players active and bringing new fans together.

For the under 17 team, the journey continues. With a record of five wins and one defeat, the Hogs took first place in their group, earning access to the finals to be held in Grosseto on 1-2 June. Congratulations to the young athletes and coaches Leonardo Borsari, Kalid El Amrani and Emanuele Daino for this important achievement. Coach Emanuele Daino experienced a weekend full of emotions: in addition to the qualification of his under-17 team for the playoffs, he was called up as starting quarterback in the under-19 national team for the match against France, playing an excellent game despite the defeat of Italy. Daino is actively involved in the Hogs’ recruiting efforts in schools, where he teaches football in elementary, middle and high school classes, contributing significantly to the growth of the movement.

The month of May continues to be busy for the Hogs. After the weekend dedicated to junior flag football, the team is preparing for another demanding challenge: on Saturday evening at 7 pm they will face the Ferrara Eagles in the penultimate match of the senior American football season at the Torelli stadium in Scandiano.

On Sunday, however, the women’s flag football athletes will take the field for the last regular season match before the finals in Grosseto in the second week of June. The women’s division of the Hogs, present in the national championship for three years, is growing quickly, even if the numbers are still limited. The hope is to make this sport known as suitable for everyone, and not just men, to attract more and more girls.

Special thanks go to all those who contributed to the organization of the events and to all the fans who supported the Hogs’ young athletes.
