The project kicks off throughout Italy, a national awareness initiative that will culminate on 4 October with the Day of Giving 2024. For the Aosta Valley this will be a special edition: the region has in fact been chosen as the “Capital of Giving “.

The Day of Giving is proposed by the Italian Donation Institute. President Alberto Fontana explains in a note: «October 4th was created to show the potential of a gesture as simple as it is concrete, the gift, which since 2015 has had a law of the Republic enshrining its national value and beyond. We have chosen the roof region of Europe as the beating heart of this tenth edition to underline the warm participation of the Aosta Valley since the beginning. Starting from Sicily, last year we made a successful choice, that of bringing the Day of Giving to the territories by electing an Italian region as capital: this year we couldn’t have made a better choice”.

The event on 4 October is organized together with the CSV – Coordinamento Solidarietà Valle d’Aosta, which in 2024 celebrates twenty-five years of activity. For Claudio Latino, president of the Aosta Valley CSV, the choice of the Aosta Valley as the Capital of Gift represents «an extraordinary recognition for the entire Aosta Valley community and for the daily action carried out by the many women and men who work, with great generosity and professionalism, in the over 230 Volunteer Associations present in the regional territory”.
