Gargano railways reactivated Foggia San Severo Peschici connections

The total reopening of the Ischitella-Peschici Calenella railway section, closed during the winter to complete the modernization and safety works on the line, is scheduled for 15 May 2024. From Wednesday, therefore, the line will be definitively reactivated with the train schedule foreseen by the timetable promptly remodulated and released in recent days. Connections ready to accompany work, study and transfer commitments of those who use them on a daily basis. A goal that satisfies the company management.

TIMES. «We succeeded in the not easy task – comments Vincenzo Scarcia Germano, president of Ferrovie del Gargano – of bringing forward the reactivation times initially scheduled for June, with the entry into force of the new summer timetable. And yet here we are, welcoming the resumption of the service: a dutiful gesture towards commuters, students, travelers who, in this long period, have experienced considerable inconvenience in moving from one end of the province to the other, even if to reach San Severo or Foggia and connect with long-distance trains. An inconvenience that pushed us to step on the accelerator on the timetable of the works without however neglecting the commitments regarding safety”.

THE NEW LOOK. A long journey for the new look of the route now also equipped with 19 new level crossings which further raise the level of safety on the route which, between Rodi Garganico and San Menaio, runs along the coast. «Safety regulations are an important and unpostponable obligation – adds Scarcia Germano – necessary to adapt to European standards regarding local public transport. This long and necessary ordeal is finally over, so we are returning to putting the needs of our travelers on rail, which we have not forgotten at all.” The Company extends a special thank you to those – and there are so many – who have sent their best wishes to the company contacts (website, social media and email) for the resumption of connections and encouragement to identify new services in favor of the Territory.
