From today, Tuesday 14 May Single European Emergency Numberused in all EU states, will also be activated in the telephone district of Lecce, Gallipoli and Maglie.

The service, completely free, guaranteed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, can be used for any type of intervention or rescue request and replaces the emergency utilities currently used and, specifically the 112 of the Carabinieri, the 113 of the State Police, the 115 of the Fire Brigade, the 118 of Healthcare and the 1530 of emergencies at sea.

It reports to a Single Response Center of the Department of Civil protection which will direct calls according to the type of emergency and assistance needed and priority, having a complete picture of requests across the entire territory.

For this reason, the Police invites users residing in the Municipalities where the Commissariat is Galatina, Gallipoli, Nardò, Otranto and Taurisano not to contact the direct number of the competent Commissariat, but to still call 112 which will be able to intervene more quickly.

You can call from a landline or mobile, even from a mobile phone without a SIM or without credit or blocked and the multilingual service is also available.

Furthermore, it can be called directly by downloading the dedicated application from the App store “WHERE ARE U” which allows the call to be located more precisely and quickly, particularly useful in the case of silent calls or deaf users
