Major events trial, conviction requested for three former councilors

The prosecutor Luca Sciarretta, during his indictment in the context of the ‘Grandi Eventi’ trial, relating to contracts for the organization of events and shows in Pescara and on the alleged rigged competition at the ASL of the Adriatic city, asked for a sentence of five years and four months of imprisonment for the former municipal councilor for major events, Giacomo Cuzzi, and five years and two months for the former municipal councilors Simona Di Carlo and Moreno Di Pierantonio.

The public prosecutor also requested five years’ imprisonment for the entrepreneur Andrea Cipolla and four years for the entrepreneur Cristian Summa. Two years of imprisonment were then requested for the music promoter Alessandro Michetti, ten months for Gianfranco Berardinelli, collaborator and partner of Cipolla, and acquittal for Leila Colucci, an employee of the ASL working in the Human Resources Management office. The four accused companies, attributable to Cipolla and Summa, are also requested to pay fines.

The defendants in the trial underway before the Collegiate Court of Pescara are accused, in various capacities, of corruption, impaired freedom of the procedure for choosing the contractor, illicit electoral financing and impaired freedom
of enchantments. There are three lines of investigation. The next hearing is scheduled for June 10.
