Two-year-old girl bitten by a pitbull in Milan, it’s serious. Her aunt saves her by locking her in the bathroom

A two and a half year old girl is in serious condition at the Niguarda hospital in Milan after being bitten by a pitbull while playing with his twin sister in an apartment in Sesto San Giovanni, in the province of Milan. The little girl was transported in code red by air ambulance to the Milanese hospital and has deep injuries to her face and lower limbs. Her sister, however, was unharmed.

The intervention of the aunt

The aunt, who saved them by locking them in a room, was also injured and was taken to the same hospital. The fire brigade, the local police of Sesto San Giovanni, the ATS and the 118 intervened on site, a building in via Picardi where the mother, father and the two twins, all Salvadorans, intervened. The aunt, a 24-year-old who was as a babysitter to the twins, she first fought with the animal, sustaining injuries to her hands, and then, after locking her nieces in a room, she ran onto the balcony, climbing over the railing and climbing the gas pipe so as not to be reached from the pit bull chasing her. She clung to him asking for help, at some moments she even mentioned throwing herself down, given that the house is located on the first floor, but then with the arrival of the fire brigade she was rescued and brought safely to the ground .

Police intervention

Upon the arrival of the Local Police officers in the apartment, the dog had returned calm, without showing any signs of agitation despite what it had done shortly before. The police captured him and handed him over to the kennel workers who took him in while awaiting decisions from the health authority. The two little sisters were still in the bathroom, one bleeding, screaming desperately, and the other crying, but without any injuries. Once in hospital, the injured little girl underwent a delicate pediatric surgery to begin to reduce the extent of the injuries to her face, especially in the lower part of her face, around her chin, and on a leg: this last injury, in particular, extremely profound, worries health workers. Further interventions and reconstructive plastic surgery will probably be necessary. Another attack occurred this morning, but with lesser results, in Vignate, also in the province of Milan. A 72-year-old woman was bitten in a dog area in the Trenzanesio Park. The 118 dispatcher went to her place and treated her but transport to hospital was not necessary.
