The first pet therapy project to support the youngest patients is in Brindisi
“A dogtor in the ward” is underway in the pediatric department of the Perrino hospital in Brindisi, a project to humanize care aimed at hospitalized boys and girls, thanks to which animals, such as Labrador dogs, will support assistance hospital.
The planned interventions include assisted activities with animals that have recreational-recreational and socialization objectives for:
- improve the quality of life for the little ones who will benefit from it
- alleviate the discomfort associated with hospitalization
- taking care of physical, neuro- and psychomotor, cognitive, emotional and relational disorders and assisted education with animals
- promote individual growth, relationships and social inclusion of people in difficulty
All the dogs involved in the project are constantly monitored by a veterinary doctor, to guarantee the well-being of the animals and small patients according to national and regional guidelines.
