GENOA – A key week begins for Sampdoria, playing on Friday (8.30 pm) in Palermo in the preliminary round of the play offs: “Barbera” needs a victory to keep their hopes of returning to Serie A alive. Today for Pirlo’s team morning training in Bogliasco: I work partially in a group for Darboe who has to deal with the after-effects of an annoying stomp on his right foot. The former Roma midfielder – among the best in recent matches – should make it to the Sicilian trip. Back in the Girelli group, separate work for Benedetti who has recovered from some fever and for Murru, who should be available again for Friday’s race. Pedrola always out.
Meanwhile, the anticipation is growing among the Blucerchiati fans in view of the decision of the Interior Ministry Observatory on sporting events on whether or not to open the trip to Palermo, after the incidents and tensions of recent days in Genoa. Last Friday the Doriani supporters were completely forbidden from traveling to Catanzaro, now there could be a glimmer of hope at least for holders of the fan card. The decision is expected this evening. Many Sampdorian fans – already on Friday evening immediately after the final whistle of the match won by Pirlo’s team in Catanzaro (a victory that was effectively useless for sixth place, given Palermo’s contemporary success in Bolzano) – had booked planes and hotels for Palermo.
