Stop ground-mounted photovoltaics: satisfaction of Coldiretti Salerno

Satisfaction is expressed by the president of Coldiretti Salerno Ettore Bellelli for the decree of the Council of Ministers which prohibits the installation of photovoltaic panels for the production of solar energy, on the ground, in agricultural areas. “Save” thousands of hectares of fertile land also in the province of Salerno.

“Coldiretti is in favor of renewable sources – explains President Bellelli – but has always believed it appropriate for photovoltaic panels to be installed on the roofs of company buildings which allow the production of clean, sustainable energy, without affecting the availability of arable land. The agriculture decree passed by the Council of Ministers is a first important response to the requests of farmers who are facing a very delicate phase. Coldiretti has achieved another objective.”

The stop to ground-based photovoltaics also applies to extensions of already existing solar fields (but not to those already approved) while solar energy can be produced, alternatively, only through the technology of agrivoltaics raised from the ground which, on the contrary of the classic panels, allow the cohabitation between agricultural activity and the production of renewable energy.
