BRINDISI – This morning (Monday 13 May 2024), the mayor of Brindisi, Giuseppe Marchionna, signed a memorandum of understanding with the government commissioner for the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, Massimo Ferrarese. The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. This historic agreement marks the start of a total financing of 275 million euros, intended to revolutionize the sports infrastructure and organizational activities of the region.

The Municipality of Brindisi will be the protagonist of this project, with an investment of ten million euros. Of these, six million euros will be used for the renovation of the Franco Fanuzzi stadium, and four million euros will be used for the contextual arrangement of the area in the Masseriola district, including the improvement of the road system and the creation of an external car park, essential to enhance the services connected to PalaPentassuglia.

Here are the interventions planned for the two systems

Mayor Marchionna expressed great enthusiasm for this project: “It is a moment of pride for Brindisi and for the whole of Puglia. These Games represent a unique opportunity to show the world our ability to host events of international scope and to invest in future of sport and our youth”.

By signing this protocol, Brindisi undertakes to be an active part of an event that promises to leave an indelible mark in the hearts of athletes, spectators and the entire community.
