BAU BEACH FOR SUMMER 2024: A DOG AREA ON THE BEACH IN TORRETTE
The Municipality of Ancona will equip a stretch of beach dedicated to dogs in Torrette. The project was approved in recent days by the council following a proposal from the animal protection department, to promote the use of animal-friendly public beaches.
The area, which will be free and experimental for the 2024 bathing season, will be called Bau Beach and is located near the train station. It is equipped with showers, toilets, and also access paths for people with disabilities, as it is already used as a free beach.
The Municipality will then equip the beach at its own expense, fencing it with wooden poles and ropes and delimiting the relevant stretch of sea with buoys up to the legal safety depth (1 meter high). Use will be allowed for accompanied dogs and two reserved access routes will be identified. There will also be a shower facility for dogs.
The regulatory provisions for the correct use of Bau Beach will be highlighted with specific signs and an ecological island will be set up for the collection of waste and animal excrement.
The council act provides for the request for concession of the area to the Port System Authority of the Central Adriatic Sea, the managing body of the coastal stretch. As consideration for the concession, the Municipality of Ancona will have to pay a fee of 3,225 euros for the year 2024, net of taxes and other technical costs.
The offices of the Urban and Environmental Planning Area – Urban Planning, Port, Mobility have already started the planning documents for the construction.
