Rake: a green that deceives :: Siena Club Fedelissimi 1970

More than twenty days have now passed since the decisive and rapid intervention of the Municipality allowed Siena FC to play their last home match on the Rastrello pitch. Of that day we remember, in addition to the party, the ruined playing field, straw yellow and totally invaded by a weed, the couch grass (photo 1), which has little or nothing to do with a football field. Bermuda grass competes predominantly with all the species that are sown, “sucking” the nutrients present in the soil or added manually. At this moment, whoever looks out at the Rastrello can see a green field thus believing that the problems are now behind us, but in reality this is not the case, that beautiful emerald green that stands out is only couch grass which, in some way, must be uprooted before proceeding with new sowing. Since April 21, the day of Siena-Mazzola, no more operations have been carried out. We know that the Municipal Administration is moving to intervene as best as possible and something will certainly move shortly but, still shocked by the recent misadventures linked to the plant, we would like the problem to be addressed as soon as possible and with the right skills which will certainly have been already identified. It is not a criticism or even a complaint, but an appeal so that, after the eviction of the previous tenant and the time required to carry out the work, everything gets back on track quickly. (NN)
