The investigating judge Angelo Antonio Pezzuti, as reported by La Repubblica Firenze, signed a decree of immediate judgment against the boy, following the request made by the prosecutor’s office. The trial is scheduled for September, so there will not be a preliminary hearing but we will move directly to the trial. The 21-year-old is accused of having carried out an act of terrorism, using deadly or explosive devices, aggravated by the fact that he acted at night and therefore tried to evade security. Judicial police investigations identified him within a few days after the videos claiming responsibility as the person who threw two Molotov cocktails at the United States consulate on the night between January 31st and February 1st. The incendiary bottles ended up on the ground without damaging the consulate building or causing injuries. During the interrogation to validate the arrest, the boy admitted his responsibilities. “I am not a terrorist” he explained to the judge, saying he was sorry and had acted without accomplices. He apologized for what he had done. “He wanted to do something provocative. But he remains a 21-year-old boy, with no precedent,” said his trusted lawyer, Samuele Zucchini.
