Tuesday 14 Maythe film club of Caserta Film Lab presents “Leaves in the wind” by Aki Kaurismäki, at the Don Bosco Theatre. The screening will take place with a double show at 6.30pm and at 9.00 pm.
The film tells the story of two solitudes who cross paths in the Helsinki night. A mechanical worker and a supermarket cashier both find themselves wanting to get to know each other better.
However, a phone number written on a piece of paper is lost, causing the meeting to be postponed. Meanwhile, their social situation does not improve at all, especially for the worker, who is in a downward spiral of alcoholism.
“Foglie al vento” addresses profound and universal themes related to loneliness, the desire for connection and the difficulty of overcoming one’s weaknesses. Director Aki Kaurismäki, with his sensitivity and mastery, manages to capture the essence of these emotions through an intense and engaging narrative.
