Amet issue, Nigretti’s clarifications on the transition to the free market
The issue of the imminent expiry of electricity in Trani needs to be clarified. Amet, from 1.7.2024, will stop selling electricity to all its vulnerable and non-vulnerable domestic customers.

The so-called vulnerable customers, i.e. those who are in economically disadvantaged conditions (for example bonus recipients), who have serious health conditions such as to require the use of medical-therapeutic equipment powered by electricity (or where there are people in these conditions), who are persons with disabilities pursuant to article 3 of law 104/92, who are over the age of 75, today have the user account with Amet spa or rather with the Servizio Elettrico Trani brand , and will continue, in continuity, with the new company that Amet will stipulate for the transfer in these days.

This new company will offer customers who wish to stay (without any specific request) and who do not decide to move to the free market the same discounted rate as the protected market currently provided.

While those who believe they meet the requirements of a vulnerable customer will have to submit an application for recognition directly to Amet spa with a specific self-declaration present on the Amet spa website which, after verifying the requirements, will be able to access the protected market.

Therefore, the current vulnerable customers, from 1.7.2024, will always have the possibility to make direct payment, as well as through postal slips and other electronic payment methods, at the Amet branches present on Lungomare Chiarelli but with the new company.

The so-called non-protectable customers, however, starting from 1.7.2024, will have, as happened with the non-domestic Amet customers who passed to Acea, the automatic transition to the Gradual Protected Service by the new contracting company in the Trani area and that is with the IREN spa.

This Graduale protected service, which is a service set up by ARERA to accompany users in the transition to the free electricity market after the removal of price protection (protected market), will last until 31.3.2027, subject to any extensions, and it will lead to the possibility of having a tariff applied by ARERA that is as advantageous as the one that is currently applied to vulnerable users.

Of course, every customer, vulnerable or not, can choose to enter the free market at any time. It is important, therefore, to keep in mind the deadline of 30.6.2024 for choosing the electricity supply operator which can be summarized as follows. If you are a customer on the free market, vulnerable or non-vulnerable, and you want to remain on the free market, you don’t have to do anything.

If you are a vulnerable customer on the free market and want to access the enhanced protection service (which for vulnerable customers will continue beyond 1 July

2024), you must submit a request to the operator of the enhanced protection service, i.e. to the AMET. If you are not already identified as a vulnerable customer (i.e. your condition of vulnerability does not derive from age) you must also send the self-certification form to the operator of the enhanced protection service, i.e. to AMET.

If you are a non-vulnerable customer on the free market and want to return to the Greater Protection service, you can do so until the latter expires (30 June 2024 because from 1 July 2024 the Greater Protection Service will give way to the Gradual Protection Service, in which non-vulnerable customers will not be able to enter).

Throughout this moment of transition, the Amet spa offices will provide their assistance to users and in any case the new company providing electricity for the vulnerable will always remain in the current premises used as branches for the public.
