CATANIA – The “people of the white t-shirts” this year too it gave its best and the sixteenth edition of Corri Catania was a real celebration that transformed a beautiful spring Sunday into an extraordinary morning.
In thousands and for all ages
A “river” of people invaded the Etna capital from the early hours; men, women,
teenagers, children, elderly people, disabled people, institutions, athletes and families entire to support the project
“Officina del Cuore” in favor of the Italian Red Cross – Catania Committee.
University Square, illuminated by a splendid sun, welcomed thousands of people from Catania of all ages,
people coming from all over Sicily and many tourists; around 25 thousand attendances which made it concrete
the slogan that has accompanied the event since the first edition: “Catania runs for Catania”.
The authorities
After the Italian anthem, performed by the Fanfare dei Bersaglieri section of Zafferana Etnea, at 10.15 am
departure with SE the Prefect of Catania, Maria Carmela Librizzi, in the front row; Mayor Enrico
Trantino, supported by the Sports Councilor Sergio Parisi and the Chief of Staff Giuseppe
Ferraro.

The journey
Running, walking, strolling in a festive atmosphere, everyone reclaimed the city for
experience a morning full of fun but also of social commitment along the 5 km of
route from Piazza Universitàtouched among other things, via Etnea, Villa Bellini, Piazza Dante, the
Ursino Castle.
To reach the arrival arch located in Piazza Duomo where the “white river” of Corri Catania ended its course before returning to Piazza Universitàwith the official voices of the event, Federica Scuderi and Danilo Pasqualino to set the pace of the final party.

“The atmosphere on the day of Corri Catania is truly exciting – they declared
organizers Elena Cambiaghi and Giovanni Nania – and it is wonderful to see such massive and joyful participation every year for a project that combines sport, well-being and social commitment.”
