Fellegara drops the civic ace, «We outside the box, we will win the elections»

Sanremo. Willy-nilly is the novelty of the Sanremo elections. And the candidate for mayor of the progressive coalition is keen to point this out Fulvio Fellegara who today, from the Porto Vecchio, presented the civic list Sanremo Generationone of the three who support him.

«I chose to present Generazione Sanremo at the Porto Vecchio because for me it has a triple meaning, – began Fellegara -. At 16 I started working here, at the Gelateria del Porto, learning the barman’s trade. The second reason is political. We are faced with one of the elements that will change Sanremo: the ancient city landing place which is the subject of a well-known redevelopment project. A project that has been changed for the worse and which must be reviewed by listening to the many requests from operators.”

«We are committed to guaranteeing administrative continuity – continued Fellegara -, carrying forward the projects of the outgoing administration but having as I will serve the public interest. In the agreements signed with the private sector, the Biancheri council completely forgot about the workers. Not having thought of compensation for the people who work on this straight is a serious shortcoming that we will have to fill.”

«Third – comments the mayoral candidate -, with great pride I present the list that represents the real alternative for this city. Of the 24 candidates present, 23 have never served on the city council. The 24th, Massimiliano Moroni (croupier, with a past in the centre-right), is the quota indicated by +Europe which we have integrated within our civic team. These candidates bring the expertise, quality and commitment that sets them apart. The list is young and represents all categories. It is a modern list, outside the consolidated patterns.”

The yes list. «We are the yes ones. Yes to work, development, growth and also to the port. But above all, we say yes to social issues, to help for those who are most disadvantaged. Let’s say yes to public water and to a reform of the health system that solves the problems of access to care for those who need it.”

The renewal. «I thank all those with political experience behind them who willingly accepted to leave space for young people. It is our precise choice, also shared by Progetto Comune and PD (the other two lists in support of Fellegara, ed.). We feel the need for renewal and want to set a good example. And I say it clearly: we are on the field for win the elections. The enthusiasm that pervades us grows day after day. We will soon present the rich and inclusive program.”

The fuchsia wave. «Someone spoke of a fuchsia wave at Centrale. We liked the slogan so much that we made it our own. We are of the opinion that this wave must not only conquer Sanremo, but wants to give a future to the province and also to the Region, where there is a need for change at important levels”.

The investigation into Toti. «I have not commented on the judicial matter directly, but rather I have reflected on the political situation that emerges from it. It is a warning that reminds us ofimportance of considering the costs of the policy. When there are such large financial flows, it is inevitable to question who is moving them and with what freedom public administrators can act. The recent event has highlighted a way of doing politics in Liguria that some define as ‘Liguria to drink’, characterized by huge communication costs. This lifts questions about how healthy such use of resources is and who really benefits from it. Our ethical choice is not to seek massive funding. Those who do it are light years away from us and we believe that citizens should also ask themselves about these dynamics.”

How much will you spend compared to the other two candidates running for office? «Barely a tenth of the two centre-right coalitions. Although others invest hundreds of thousands of euros, I believe that this round will not be enough for them, considering the way they have structured this election campaign. It is absurd to think that they are spending more than the mayor of Sanremo will be able to earn in five years of office.”

But where is Generazione Sanremo? «I am reminded of Gaber when he joked about the differences between right and left. Of course I claim my story. I never hid it. Generazione Sanremo, however, was born as a civic group that welcomes and communicates with the whole city. It is no coincidence that we started by addressing issues such as development, trade and tourism. We don’t feel labeled. We feel comfortable in a progressive coalition.”

There are those who say that a trade unionist will never be able to become mayor of Sanremo… «Those who think in stereotypes make a serious mistake. I have always adopted an open and dialogue approach with everyone, despite my union origins. I could respond to these criticisms by arguing that an engineer cannot be a good mayor because he only knows about systems and might feel out of place in other situations. The same can be true for a lawyer who reasons and expresses himself in overly technical language without being able to address the problems from a political perspective.” Any reference by Fellegara to Gianni Rolando and Alessandro Mager is purely coincidental.
