A few days ago we revealed the new openings of Vincenzo Capuano and among these there is the new headquarters in Turin. And last night we were at the inauguration. A party which saw the creation of kilometric queues on Via Andrea Doria starting from 2pm (the opening was scheduled for 6pm). The Turin public welcomed the arrival of the new Capuano-branded pizzeria under the Mole with warmth and participation.
“Bringing my pizza to Turin was a dream,” Capuano tells us. “I was very keen on this opening and from what I see I was right. The response was one of the warmest in Italy. It also surpassed Bari where over 2 thousand people arrived.”
Vincenzo Capuano’s new pizzeria is spread over two floors for a total of approximately 400 square metres. There are 130 seats (to which approximately 40 seats in the outdoor area will be added at the end of May). For the inauguration of the new pizzeria in Capuano, only the street level floor was used. Here hundreds and hundreds of people followed one another during the opening hours who were able to taste some of Capuano’s iconic pizzas.
Three pizzas baked non-stop by the team.
What we tasted at Vincenzo Capuano in Turin
The very traditional Margherita pizza (€8) with hand-crushed tomato selection Capasso, Fiordilatte dei Monti, extra virgin olive oil and basil. Capuano’s contemporary mixture does not betray and the beautiful, bursting cornice conquers.
Another great classic Marinara (€7) with hand-crushed tomato, a generous amount of oregano, beautiful segments of Tuscan garlic and an inevitable drizzle of raw extra virgin olive oil.
Last taste with one of the Capuano family’s iconic pizzas: Contemporary provola and pepper (€10) with smoked Monti provola, hand-crushed tomato, pepper mix, seasoned roasted cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and basil. Light dough, provola that makes its smokiness noticeable, right amount of pepper. You bite into it and you immediately understand why it is world champion pizza.
Vincenzo Capuano brand products in Turin and beyond
In Vincenzo Capuano’s pizzeria in Turin there are good traveling companions when it comes to raw materials. The Naples Nuvola flour from Mulino Caputo, the Fiordilatte and the Fuscella di Napoli from Latteria Sorrentina and above all its new line of branded products. First of all the peeled tomatoes to be crushed by hand, but also oil, cheeses and cured meats branded Vincenzo Capuano and distributed by Luigi Capasso & Figli.
“To guarantee the same pizza, also in terms of flavour,” says Capuano, “we selected tomatoes, oil, some cheeses and cured meats that go under the Capuano brand and are distributed by the Capasso group. At the moment in Italy and Germany, but soon they will be exported all over the world.”
And so you will also find them in the new (already mentioned?) pizzeria that Vincenzo Capuano will open after the one in Turin: on the port of La Spezia.
Obviously ours is just a taste. We will soon be back to taste all the pizzas that allowed him to reach the quarter-finals of our pizza championship. The complete offer is broad, even too broad. Starting with some whims and some suggestions for those who want to choose something else than pizza.
