The male and female athletes of “Olimpia Asti” shone at the national artistic gymnastics Don Bosco Cup which was held in Lignano Sabbiadoro from 25 April to 1 May.

In the men’s field in the B programs, the domain of little Edoardo Martinetto, who became national champion in the Mini category, also winning on all the apparatus. Also very good were their teammates, Oscar Caliandro and Mario Pisicchio who took second and third place respectively in the all around, painting the podium red and white. Still in the B programs, Andrea Deboli also performed excellently, placing fourth overall, just a whisker away from the podium, but winning the parallel bars specialty and placing second on the barre and trampoline.

In the A program, in the Open category Matteo Damasio won in the overall ranking, also winning gold on parallel bars and vault and silver on trampoline; while Daniele Deboli won silver on the bars and vault and Riccardo Musu won the trampoline specialty and bronze on the parallel bars. In the Senior A Jacopo Spessa became national champion on the floor exercise, also winning the bronze medal on the parallel bars, while Pietro Festa won the silver medal on the trampoline, finishing fifth overall. Igor Noto ranked second in the overall and third in the trampoline, floor exercise and barre, while Mattia Rebuffo won gold in the trampoline and silver in the parallel bars and vault.

In the women’s A programs, Giulia Critelli, in the Seniors, placed fourth on floor exercise, very close to the podium, and seventh place on both beam and overall. She suffered a fall at the arrival of Yurchenko on vault, which did not allow her to get on the podium. In the Mini A Alice Lovecchio won the gold medal on vault and ninth place in the overall ranking; while in the Under 15s Irene Mannini and Paola Lukaj took to the competition, who won gold on vault and placed fifth on parallel bars.

In the B programs, in the Propaganda category, Mariasole Barbero placed sixth on parallel bars and twelfth in the overall; while in the Under 15 B, there were three Asti girls competing: Ottavia Milan, Anna Rebuffo, who became national champion on vault, and Gabriella Pasquali gold on parallel bars. In the Under 17s, the colors of Asti were defended by Giorgia Mancuso and Letizia Lavacca, who won the silver medal on vault, fourth place on beam and in the overall ranking just a few hundredths from the top step of the podium. Finally, in the Senior category Chiara Lanzavecchia, regional vice champion, finished the competition in sixth place on floor exercise and eighth on vault, just a few hundredths of a second from the podium in both cases. She made some errors on the beam which did not allow her to get on the podium in the all around.

In the C programs, Beatrice Devita and Martina Lukaj, in the Mini, won seventh and eighth place on the parallel bars, while Matilde Meli, in the Under 15s, won bronze on the parallel bars. In the Under 17s, however, there were two teammates competing: Ina Bali, who performed a race below her abilities, and Giulia Cassenti who placed eighth on the parallel bars. Finally, Rebecca Bella ranked close to the top ten on beam.

Finally, in the D programs, Carla Massano, twelfth on vault, Camilla Gatti, twelfth on parallel bars, and Andrea Menino, who finished the competition in fourth place in the all around, took part in the competition with excellent performances in the Mini. a silver medal on bars and a bronze on beam and an eighth place on vault; Sofia Imbrenda’s performance was also very good, in her first experience in a competition at a national level, who managed to achieve an excellent sixth place on the parallel bars.

This year too the Asti club, with very few others from other regions, was represented by its athletes at the evening gala, where the best gymnasts who competed at the Lignano nationals performed: in the women’s field with Paola Lukaj and in men’s field with Mattia Rebuffo and Matteo Damasio.
In addition to the satisfaction with the results obtained, the Asti coaches were able to share a unique training experience with their male and female athletes. The men’s section also classified for the national teams of the Italian Gymnastics Federation which will take place at the end of June in Rimini.
The activity in the gym will continue throughout the summer with both the courses and the Summer Camp which for the first year will take place in the new location and which promises to be full of new features thanks to the large internal and external spaces available.
